I found this on FB today...at You Are My O2 ~

...and this very way of thinking is how Flying V Studio - Handcrafted Pottery was born.
Sometimes, we are forced, or think we are forced, to stay in the rut we know. We see climbing out of the rut and closing that door on the drama as frightening, forgetting we still have a window to see the amazing world of possibilities.

A new adventure today ... I now have a FB page for Flying V Studio - Handcrafted Pottery. Some of you are so quick you came to see while I was still editing. What exciting things are happening this summer ... and just think - 2 1/2 months ago I had a job I retired from after 17yrs just to have this much fun.

Speaking of fun, here's a shot of the earlier days of my 'home studio'. Needless to say, I had to create LOTS more space to accommodate this messiness. Shelves have been built, and I even have a hidden photo workshop.

See the white roll behind the lamp? Pull it down like a window shade add a tripod and I'm ready...

I recently attended a "Paperclay" Workshop at the Sorensen Community Programs (part of the Tanque Verde Unified School District) and met some wonderful people and learned many new things including the marvelous clouds in the completed piece you see below. (My workshop piece)

Workshops are such great motivation. All the participants were experienced clay enthusiasts and each arrived with ideas on surface decoration and tools to share - my favorite part!! Not only did I get to borrow and share many of the tools but I learned to make these marvelous clouds with -of all things- a set of cookie cutters.

Since the class, I've had the opportunity to chat with the Instructor, Gail Brynildsen, who has given me even more ideas for my own work.  Gail also works in Hand painted Tile Murals and Mosaics, all of which are fabulous.

A few friends have told me they have checked out this blog, and now there is a "FOLLOW" button you can check too. I am only guessing that this will tell you when I post new photos or random thoughts, and let me know you are enjoying it all.

Today is visiting and errands day . . .  1st off to see my friend Linda in her teaching studio, then to MARJON's, the Pottery /ceramics supply store in Tucson. Of course these are in opposite directions but I have the time ! My nephew recently moved to Tucson to attend the UofA, perhaps we can have lunch. I love being retired from my old job - it never afforded a day like this.

I should begin by thanking all those who have helped me arrive at this point, to name everyone would take days so let me thank you all - and you know who you are - I love you dearly.

A very special thanks to my Mentors and dear friends Linda and Sue who have shared their unique knowledge to help guide me on my new adventure.

My greatest thanks go to my darling Frank, his endless energy and undying support has been like no other in my lifetime regardless of my endeavors.
